Athletistic/Hockey. The Pittsburgh Penguins are unable to move forward in negotiations to sign defenseman Chris Letang and forward Evgeni Malkin.
Initially, the club offered both players contracts for a period of two years, but both Malkin and Letang rejected the offer. At the moment, the parties are considering a three-year agreement, but have not yet agreed on the issue of player salaries.
Chris Letang has spent his entire professional career with the Pittsburgh Penguins – he has been playing for the club since 2006. Evgeni Malkin joined the Penguins in 2006. He previously played for Metallurg of Magnitogorsk.
During the 2021/2022 season, Letang played in 78 NHL regular season games for Pittsburgh, in which he scored 10 goals and provided 58 assists. During the Stanley Cup playoffs, Letang scored 7 games, 1 goal and 3 assists.
Evgeni Malkin’s statistics last season: 41 matches, 20 goals, 22 assists – in the regular season; 7 games, 3 goals, 3 assists – in the playoffs.
