General Director of SKA Arena Dmitry Svatkovsky said that the arena will soon be completed with cosmetic finishes, after which the sports facility will be ready to receive spectators, including during the Fonbet week of KHL stars.
On Friday, the press service of the St. Petersburg administration announced the completion of the construction of the arena. The city’s National Construction Works Supervision Authority issued permission to put the facility into operation. Now local KHL club SKA hosts their championship rivals at the Ice Palace.
— Obtaining the commissioning authorization constitutes a historic step in the SKA Arena construction project, giving the green light to the preparation and organization of the previously announced hockey matches. We have been on this journey with the city, and at every step we have felt the support of the administration and everyone involved. Before us is the aesthetic finishing of individual elements, which we plan to complete in the near future. After that, we will be ready and happy to welcome spectators at sporting events and concerts,” Svatkovsky said according to the KHL press service.
SKA Arena is a multifunctional sports and cultural complex that will be designed to host hockey competitions taking into account the requirements of the IIHF, KHL, VHL, MHL. The Ice Palace will be able to accommodate more than 21,500 people during various hockey events (today it is the largest hockey arena in the world) and up to 23,000 people during concerts.
The arena has the capacity to host competitions in more than 20 different sports: hockey, sledge hockey, figure skating, short track, ice dancing, volleyball, basketball, handball, MMA, boxing, dance sports /ballroom dancing, artistic gymnastics, sports, weightlifting, tennis.
On December 9 and 10, 2023, the SKA Arena will host the Fonbet KHL All-Star Game 2023.
