SKA head coach Rotenberg suspended for one KHL game for criticizing refereeing

Head coach of St. Petersburg SKA Romain Rotenberg Fonbet was disqualified from a match of the regular season of the KHL Championship for public statements regarding the work of referees, the league press service reports.

As reported, Rotenberg committed a repeated violation of the KHL sports regulations.

— In accordance with paragraph 39 of art. 30 of the KHL disciplinary regulations, a fine is imposed on the club and a one-match disqualification is imposed on the team’s head coach Roman Rotenberg, the statement said.

On Thursday, SKA was defeated by Avangard in the KHL home match with a score of 3:5. At the beginning of the second period, Avangard forward Mark Verba, playing his second match for the team, fought with SKA forward Ivan Zinchenko.

After the match, the SKA coach said that “Zinchenko was almost killed on the ice”, emphasizing that “such things are unacceptable in our league.”

Rotenberg will miss the match with Vityaz, which will take place on November 4 and start at 17:00 (Moscow time). Clause 39 of Article 30 of the KHL Disciplinary Regulations states that the club should be fined 500,000 rubles.
