Former hockey playerChicago Blackhawks “, who claims to have been sexually assaulted by the team’s former coach Brad Aldrich during the 2009-10 season, has addressed the court, TSN reports.
The complaint was filed Nov. 2 in Cook County Court in Chicago.
“Our law firm has filed a lawsuit against the Chicago Blackhawks hockey team for allowing this behavior and placing winning ahead of the health and well-being of its players,” said Antonio Romanucci, representative of the firm of lawyers.
Romanucci’s colleague Jason Friedl said the club faces six counts of negligence, including negligence in hiring Aldrich and intentionally causing emotional distress to “John Doe” , the Anglo-Saxon legal term for a person not identified in the trial.
In May 2021, former Chicago player Kyle Beach sued the club, claiming he was mistreated by Aldrich. Subsequently, amid the scandal, the club’s general manager Stan Bowman was fired and coach Joel Quenneville, who previously worked in Chicago, left Florida. In October 2021, the NHL fined Chicago $2 million for poor internal procedures and an insufficient and untimely response to the incident.
