Johnson was playing in a Challenge Cup match at the Sheffield Arena on October 28 when he was cut on the neck by the skate of 31-year-old Sheffield Steelers player Matt Petgrave. The collision, seen by 8,000 spectators, occurred 35 minutes after the start of the match. .
