“Pittsburgh” will retire the jersey number of the two-time Stanley Cup winner Jaromir Jagr reports the press service of the hockey club.
The Czech hockey player’s jersey number 68 lifting ceremony will take place before the NHL regular season game against Los Angeles, which will take place on February 18, 2024.
Pittsburgh selected Jagr 5th overall in the 1990 NHL Draft. He won two Stanley Cups with the club (1991 and 1992).
The Czech forward spent 11 seasons in the NHL with the Penguins, playing in 806 regular season games and recording 1,079 points (439 goals, 640 assists). Jagr ranks among the top five players in Pittsburgh history in games played (5th), goals (4th), assists (4th) and points (4th).
Jaromir Jagr will become the third hockey player in Pittsburgh history to have his number retired. Previously, Mario Lemieux and Michel Brière had received this honor.
The 51-year-old hockey player still continues his career, playing in the Czech championship for his native Kladno.
