The International Ice Hockey Federation extended the ban on Russian and Belarusian teams

National teams of aggressor countries also continue to be left out of European competitions

Independent Disciplinary Council of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) rejected the appeals of the ice hockey federations of Russia and Belarus.

In February, the IIHF banned the participation of national teams and clubs from the above countries in competitions under its auspices. The aggressor countries filed an appeal against this decision.

However, the IIHF Council supported the decision of the International Federation, referring to the fact that this decision was made not as sanctions, but as a security policy.

Also at the meeting, the decision was extended not to allow officials from Russia to participate in competitions under the auspices of the IIHF and the ban on the work of representatives of the Russian Federation and Belarus as members of various committees of the IIHF was supported.

Recall that in April, the International Ice Hockey Federation took away the right to host the 2023 World Championship from Russia. Also, Russia was deprived of the right to host the 2023 World Youth Championship, which was supposed to be held in Omsk and Novosibirsk.
