The match took place on the Islanders’ field and ended with a score of 4:1 in favor of the guests. Ovechkin scored two goals during this meeting. Thanks to these results, the Russian narrowed the gap with the legendary Wayne Gretzky on the list of the best snipers in the history of the NHL to 68 goals.

Before the game, members of the 103rd Rescue Squadron, 106th Rescue Wing, stationed in Westhampton Beach, appeared on the ice. They held a symbolic confrontation. Next to them were the team captains, Ovechkin and Anders Lee.
