Jay Woodcroft relieved from his position as head coach of an NHL club “Edmonton” reports the team’s press service.
Woodcroft’s assistant Dave Manson also left the club. The team will be led by Chris Knoblauch, coach of the Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey League (AHL).
Edmonton is in 15th place in the Western Conference standings with 7 points in 13 matches.
Woodcroft took over the Oilers on an interim basis in February 2022 and was confirmed in June of that year. In the 2021/22 season, the team reached the conference finals, where they lost to Colorado, and last season they stopped in the second round of the playoffs.
