Olympic champion Ilya Kovalchuk said he supports his sons playing sports other than hockey.
Kovalchuk’s son Philip plays for Brazilian Sao Paulo. In September, he was called up to the Russian U-14 national football team.
— Why did your son choose football and not hockey?
“He chose football himself. Another son plays basketball. I support my sons, the main thing is that they have fun and are passionate about the work they do. No matter the sport.
— Who will perpetuate your hockey traditions?
“Certainly no one from my family,” reports the correspondent, according to Kovalchuk’s words.
Ilya Kovalchuk is an Olympic winner and world hockey champion who played for several KHL and NHL clubs.
