The head coach SKA Romain Rotenberg answered a question about comparing the St. Petersburg hockey team with football clubs, noting that his team tries to get the best out of the giants.
On Tuesday, SKA defeated Ak Bars Kazan with a score of 4:2 in the Fonbet KHL championship match.
— Last season you compared SKA’s play with that of the Liverpool and Juventus football teams. Who do the military look like this year?
— We always look at the variability of tactics. We look for things to improve in detail. You always have to strive to improve something, we change the details in every training session.
But, generally speaking, our playing system has not changed since last season. Only the completion of the task affects victories, game quality and the result. In football, many teams are now playing very well. Liverpool continue to play as before, also note Manchester City and Zenit. Let’s take one of the best examples.
We are always looking at what can be improved in our game system, looking for options. These are the most important details. We spend a lot of time doing video analysis. We watch all the KHL, VHL, MHL games – we take the best. And of course, we always look at the NHL: the best hockey players, the best game systems. We look a lot at “Vegas”, “Boston”, “Colorado” – we take the example of the strongest teams”, said Rotenberg according to the SKA press service.
SKA with 32 points occupies fifth place in the Western Conference standings. In the next match, the St. Petersburg club will face Severstal Cherepovets on November 16.
