“What do I have to do with my situation?” — Mogilny on the story of goalkeeper Fedotov

1988 Olympic ice hockey champion Alexander Mogilny told “” that he did not know anything about the situation with the drafting of the Russian national team goalkeeper Ivan Fedotov .

In May, the winner of the Gagarin Cup as part of CSKA Moscow signed a contract with the Philadelphia Flyers NHL club. On Friday July 1, 25-year-old Fedotov was arrested in St. Petersburg on suspicion of escaping military service.

– I have not heard of the story with Fedotov.

– You had an episode before leaving for America, when you were still at CSKA…

– And what do I have to do with my situation now? I am not at all and do not know what is going on with the young man. I don’t have the competence and authority to comment on a subject I don’t know about,” Mogilny said.

Mogilny played at CSKA from 1986 to 1989. In the 1988 draft, the hockey player was selected in the fifth round under the 89th overall number by the Buffalo Sabers team; in May 1989, 20-year-old Mogilny requested political asylum in the United States, changing his military oath and current work obligations to CSKA. After that, he successfully played in the NHL.
