On Tuesday, Washington beat Vegas 3-0 in the NHL regular season game. Early in the first period, Russian Ovechkin received a dangerous blow to the neck with his stick from McNabb and fell to the ice. The judges initially gave the Canadian a two-minute penalty for dangerous play with a high stick, but after discussing the episode, they overturned the punishment.
In this meeting, Ovechkin spent 21 minutes 59 seconds on the ice, had three shots on target, made four powerful moves and was not effective.
Washington scored 18 points and moved into fourth place in the Eastern Conference standings, while Vegas (25) leads the West.
