Former Chelsea FC goalkeeper Cech will play for the British hockey champions.

Former goalkeeper for London Chelsea and the Czech national football team Petr Cech was loaned to the Belfast Giants club, reports the press service of the Belfast hockey club.

The Belfast Giants are the current British hockey champions. At the moment, the team is in fifth place in the standings, with 10 points after 9 rounds of the regular season.

“We are very grateful for the support of the Oxford City Stars team and Cech himself. “He knows very well what it takes to perform at the highest level,” the team’s press office quoted Belfast Giants head coach Adam Keefe as saying.

The duration of Cech, 41,’s rental contract with the new club is not specified, but it is stated that it is “temporary”. Cech previously played for Guildford Phoenix and Chelmsford hockey clubs. Now the rights to the athlete belong to Oxford City Stars.

Cech spent most of his football career at Chelsea; he also played for London Arsenal, French Rennes, Czech Sparta and Khmel. The goalkeeper holds the record for the Czech national football team in terms of the number of matches played (124).
