Former Chelsea goalkeeper Cech goes on loan to the Belfast Giants

In the near future, the Premier League football legend will play in the Elite British Hockey League

Former football goalkeeper Chelsea Petr Cech moved to the hockey club on loan Belfast Giants.

Thus, the 41-year-old goalkeeper was promoted. The club from the capital of Northern Ireland represents the Elite British Hockey League, while Peter’s current club, Oxford City Stars, plays at a lower level in the NIHL league.

This is the fourth hockey club for which the former football player will play. Peter previously played for Guildford Phoenix and Chelmsford.

Earlier in 2023, Cech took part in a charity hockey match of the Belfast Giants team against Kherson Dnieper. The match took place as part of the Ukrainian Hockey Dream program to raise money to help Ukrainian hockey players and coaches.

As a footballer, Cech played 333 matches for Chelsea between 2004 and 2015. Together with the Blues, the Czech goalkeeper won the Premier League four times and also won the Champions League in 2012. He also played for Sparta Prague, French Rennes and London Arsenal. He played 124 matches as a member of the Czech football team.

In the British Elite League, Belfast is in fifth place out of ten.
