Kazakh attacker “Barysa” Arkady Shestakov shared his opinion on the difference in the limit imposed on foreign players for clubs in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL).
From August 1, 2023, by decision of the Russian Ministry of Sports, the limit on foreign players in the KHL has been increased. Previously, Russian KHL clubs could include up to five foreign players in their bid for matches. Now the limit is only three foreigners.
– Barys currently has eight foreign players, and recently there were nine. In Russian teams the limit is three. What do you say to those who think your team has a big advantage in this regard?
– I am for everyone playing on an equal footing. If there is a certain regulation, then everyone must comply with it,” Metaratings.ru quotes Shestakov as saying.
