“Our task is not to help, but not to hinder” – Mostovoy about participation in the KHL All-Star Game

Former Russian footballer Alexander Mostovoy said his main task at the Kontinental Hockey League All-Star Game is not to interfere with the coach.

Mostovoy will be the assistant for Alexey Zhamnov’s Bobrov division team. Earlier it became known that Mostovoy and other former players of the Russian national team – Andrei Arshavin, Roman Shirokov and Dmitry Sychev – will participate in the All-Star Game.

“Our task is not to help, but not to hinder.” Besides, everyone understands that this is a star match, a show, so the result does not matter here. Year after year we see this on television. Participation is essential here. We accepted this offer with great respect, as hockey and football are two of the most popular sports in the country. Finally, they paid attention to the football players. Plus, we all play hockey at our good amateur level.

How the idea came about, I don’t know. But at the All-Star game, someone is always invited. I’d probably like to help the guys I’m friends with. They are people from my generation. For example, Lesha Zhamnov, Sergei Fedorov. We’ve known each other for a long time, so if they come, I’ll help them.

Isn’t it a shame that in hockey they call, but not in football? Enough has already been said on this subject. Many things in our football do not happen in the football way,” Mostovoy said, as quoted by Sport24.

The Fonbet KHL All-Star Game 2023 will take place on December 9-10, 2023 in St. Petersburg at the SKA Arena.
