Ex-Spartak coach about inviting former footballers to the KHL All-Star Game: “Why not?”

Former Spartak head coach Fedor Kanareikin said that he reacted positively to the invitation of former players of the Russian national team to the All-Star Game of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) as coaches -deputy team leaders.

The Fonbet KHL All-Star Game 2023 will take place on December 9 and 10 in St. Petersburg in the new SKA Arena. Earlier, in the program “In Touch” on KHL TV, it was announced that former players of the Russian national football team Dmitry Sychev, Andrei Arshavin, Alexander Mostovoy and Roman Shirokov will become assistant head coaches at the next event.

— In my opinion, the KHL All-Star Game should always be considered a match with spectacle elements, where the best hockey players in the league at the moment are present, and the choice of fans is decisive.

Adding former players as assistant coaches is absolutely not a bad thing. They all like hockey, I even know some of them. Mostovoy, for example, played as part of Spartak’s veteran team in one of the tournaments and was quite good. Others also love this sport. Why not? – Kanareikin told RT.

The head coach of the Bobrov division team was Alexey Zhamnov (Spartak), the Tarasov division team was led by Alexey Kudashov (Dynamo Moscow), Andrey Razin (Metallurg) became the head coach of Kharlamov division team, Mikhail Kravets (“Vanguard”)
