Florida beat Anaheim in the NHL thanks to a controversial refereeing decision

“Florida” scored an away victory against “Anaheim” (2:1) in the NHL regular season game.

In the first half, the Panthers took the lead thanks to goals from Etu Luostarinen and Oliver Ekman-Larsson; in the third period, Frank Vatrano scored a power play goal.

Midway through the third period, a controversial episode occurred in the match. Anaheim’s Swedish forward Jakob Silfverberg rounded the goal and sent the puck into the near corner, Florida goalie Anthony Stolarz raised his pad and deflected the shot. Video replay showed that the puck could have completely crossed the goal line, but after a lengthy review by the referees, the goal was still not counted.

“Anaheim” published a fragment of the episode on social networks during the match, proving that the puck was in the goal of “Florida”.

Three Russian defenders took part in the match – Dmitry Kulikov from Florida, as well as Ilya Lyubushkin and Pavel Mintyukov from Anaheim. All finished the match without any points, Kulikov got the score “+1”. Panthers goalkeeper Sergei Bobrovsky spent the game on the bench.

Florida scored 23 points and is 3rd in the Eastern Conference, Anaheim (18) is 8th in the West.
