Ivan Fedotov discharged from Ministry of Defense hospital in Severodvinsk

Olympic silver medal ice hockey goaltender Ivan Fedotov was discharged from the 1469th Naval Clinical Hospital of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation in Severodvinsk, the hospital told .

On July 1, Fedotov was arrested in St. Petersburg on suspicion of escaping military service. The hockey player requested medical assistance at the assembly point of the military registration and enlistment office, after which he was taken to Botkin Infectious Diseases Hospital. Then the player was sent for further examination to the military medical academy and then to the naval hospital. Later, Fedotov’s lawyer Alexei Ponomarev reported that his client had an exacerbation of gastritis against the background of a nervous breakdown.

Last season, Fedotov won the Gagarin Cup with CSKA and won the silver medal at the Beijing Games. On May 7, the 25-year-old goaltender signed a contract with the Philadelphia Flyers in the NHL.
