Russian forward for the New York Rangers Artemy Panarin extended his own early-season scoring streak to 15 games, scoring twice in the NHL game against New Jersey.
The New York Rangers defeated New Jersey on the road with a score of 5: 3. Panarin scored a double and scored points in the 15th of 15 matches of the season. The Russian was recognized as the first star of the match.
Panarin broke the record for Russian NHL players – it was set by Dmitry Kvartalnov, the current head coach of Dynamo Minsk, when he played for Boston in the 1992-93 season and had 14 productive matches at the start of the season.
Panarin also broke a club record: in the 1972/73 season, Rod Gilbert managed to score points in 14 consecutive matches at the start of the season. Currently, Panarin has scored 10 goals and made 16 assists this season.
The NHL record for longest scoring streak in the 21st century belongs to Dany Heatley and is 22 games.
