Pittsburgh Penguins forward Yevgeny Malkin assessed the situation with the extension of the contract. The Russian forward cannot yet agree with the club on the terms of the new deal.
I understand it’s a business. I love this city, these fans. If the team wants fresh blood and says to me, “We have to move on”, I understand. I hope to be here for the rest of my career,” Malkin said.
Malkin was selected by Pittsburgh in the 2004 NHL Draft with the second overall pick. The striker has been defending the colors of the team since 2006, in the regular season he played a total of 981 games, scoring 1146 points (444 + 702). As part of the Penguins, Malkin became a three-time Stanley Cup winner (2009, 2016, 2017).
