The head coach “Tampa John Cooper said he was surprised by the Russian striker’s return Nikita Koucherov in the NHL game against Boston, despite possible damage.
The meeting took place in Tampa and ended with a victory for the hosts in overtime – 5:4 (OT). Kucherov left the ice midway through the second period, likely due to a leg injury, but returned to the game in the third 20 minutes and scored off a pass over Steven Stamkos.
“I was surprised he came back because we thought he was injured.” After the second period he said, “Oh no, I’m going back.” I think it gave the guys a huge boost. “He’s just a gifted player,” reporter Chris Crenn quoted Cooper as saying on social media.
This season, Kucherov, 30, scored 28 points (13 goals and 15 assists) in 18 games.
