Forward for an NHL club Boston Bruins Milan Lucic accused of assault and battery on a member of his family, reports the Boston Herald.
According to the publication, the 35-year-old attacker was released on his own recognizance on Tuesday morning. During the trial, which lasted approximately 8 minutes, he pleaded not guilty.
Lucic’s arrest became known on Saturday November 18. The Bruins released a statement on the situation, noting that the player had taken an “indefinite leave of absence.”
According to prosecutors, at 1 a.m. Nov. 18, a victim called Boston police and reported that the hockey player was trying to strangle him. The police officers who arrived at the scene learned from the victim that after a night of drinking, Lucic had lost her phone and accused her of hiding it, after which he grabbed the girl by the hair.
Lucic signed a one-year contract with the Bruins during the offseason. In total, the Canadian played 1,177 games in the NHL and scored 586 points (233 goals + 353 assists).
