Goalkeeper of the Russian national ice hockey team Ivan Fedotov in a good way a bold person, his relationship with management CSKA influenced the situation with conscription into the army, said State Duma deputy Alexander Yushchenko.
Fedotov was arrested July 1 in St. Petersburg on suspicion of escaping military service.
– The leaders of NHL clubs proceed for their own benefit, it is beneficial to them that our best players play with them. As for the parallel, a famous NHL hockey player would break the law in America, he would answer the same, the position of the league would not matter. A formal sign – the existence of a violation of the law – exists. Everyone must serve in the army, in Soviet times, hockey players served in the army – in the sports society there were military departments.
CSKA is a commercial club, but it is the central sports club of the army. Moreover, regarding the “conceptual” question, close to hockey, close to sport. There is an opinion that the guy is quite bold in a good way. But a certain audacity involved the principle: “If you don’t want it the right way, it will be worse the wrong way.” The issue could have been settled more gently. But, probably, the dialogue between the club and the player led to such a difficult scenario”, said Yushchenko on the air of the program “There is a theme!” on MatchTV.
Last season, Fedotov won the Gagarin Cup with CSKA and the Olympic Games silver medalist. He was recognized as the best goaltender of the season in the KHL. On May 7, the 25-year-old goaltender signed a contract with the Philadelphia Flyers in the NHL.
