Canadian goalkeeper Marc-Andre Fleury came out to warm up before the Minnesota-Colorado game wearing a helmet, the use of which had been banned by the NHL, reports Theathletic.
Fleury plays in the NHL for Minnesota, and the 38-year-old Canadian warmed up wearing a goalie helmet in honor of Native American Heritage Night. Fleury would wear the helmet in honor of his wife Veronica, who is an enrolled member of the tribe in Canada.
According to Theathletic’s sources, the Canadian will not be fined, despite the fact that the NHL has banned the use of this helmet even during warm-ups.
