Former goalkeeper for London Chelsea and the Czech national football team Petr Cech made his debut in the British Elite Hockey League (EIHL) as part of the Belfast Giants club, reports the tournament press service.
The goaltender took the ice in the third period of the game against Glasgow Clan. The match ended with a score of 5:1 in favor of the Giants, Cech saved a shot.
In November, the Czech goalkeeper moved to Belfast on a temporary loan. Cech previously played for Guildford Phoenix and Chelmsford hockey clubs. Now the rights to the athlete belong to Oxford City Stars.
The Belfast Giants are the current British hockey champions. The team currently occupies seventh place in the standings, with 12 points after 12 days of the regular season.
Cech spent most of his football career at Chelsea; he also played for London Arsenal, French Rennes, Czech Sparta and Khmel. The goalkeeper holds the record for the Czech national football team in terms of the number of matches played (124).
