Athletistic/Hockey. Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby has shared his thoughts on the possible end of his and Washington Capitals captain Alexander Ovechkin’s careers. Both players are currently in their 19th season in the National Hockey League (NHL). The question of possible retirement has become relevant, given their long experience in professional hockey and the ages of Ovechkin (38) and Crosby (36).

“I hope we’re still a long way from retiring,” Crosby told The Athletic.

Ovechkin has been playing in the NHL since 2005. During this time, the Russian forward has played 1,364 matches, scored 827 goals, dished out 670 assists and scored 1,497 points with an overall rating of +69. Crosby, who joined the NHL the same year as Ovechkin, played 1,209 regular season games and recorded 1,525 points (563 goals, 962 assists).
