The NHL changes format for All-Star Week

The National Hockey League (NHL) has adjusted the format of All-Star Week, during which the player draft will take place.

According to the NHL website, in addition to Friday’s skills competition and Saturday’s tournament, there will be a draft on Thursday in which team captains from four divisions, along with celebrities, will select players to from a list compiled by fans and the league. Also that day, there will be a 3×3 match with the participation of players from the Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL).

The league used the draft All-Star Game when it was held in a two-team format in 2011, 2012 and 2015. Since 2016, the event has been held under a new format, in the form of a mini-tournament between teams of division stars.

NHL All-Star Week will take place February 1-3 in Toronto.
