“Chicago” based on the results of an internal investigation, he named an attacker Corey Perry to a waiver draft in order to end his contract, reports the press service of the NHL club.
Previously, the club’s management announced that the 38-year-old hockey player would be absent from the team in the near future, but did not specify the details. Reports surfaced on social media that Perry may have been suspended due to a sexual relationship with the mother of his teammate, 18-year-old 2023 first-round draft pick Connor Bedard. Perry’s agent, Pat Morris, said the forward would not work with the team in the near future because he “needs to deal with personal issues.”
“Following an internal investigation, the club determined that Corey Perry engaged in unacceptable behavior and violated both the terms of his contract and the Blackhawks’ internal policies aimed at creating a professional and safe work environment,” the club said in a statement.
Perry joined Chicago in June 2023 on a one-year contract. The Canadian forward won the Stanley Cup in 2007 with Anaheim, double Olympic champion (2010, 2014) and world champion (2016).
