Athletistic/Hockey. New York Rangers Russian forward Artemi Panarin tops the list of contenders for the Hart Trophy, an award given to the most valuable player voted by the NHL Writers Association. This was announced on the league’s official website.

The midterm vote took place in a format in which first place received 5 points, second place 4, third place 3, and so on. Tampa Bay Lightning forward Nikita Kucherov is fifth in the top 10.

The full ranking is as follows:

1. Artemi Panarin, New York Rangers, 46 points (three first-place votes);
2. David Pastrnak, Boston Bruins, 42 (two first-place votes);
3. Quinn Hughes, Vancouver Canucks, 39 (five first-place votes);
4. Elias Pettersson, Vancouver Canucks, 27 (five first-place votes);
5. Nikita Kucherov, Tampa Bay Lightning, 26 (one first-place vote);
