Russian NHL club defenseman San Jose Sharks Nikolai Knyjov followed the exemption project procedure and did not receive any offers, reports Daily Democrat .
Now, the 25-year-old Russian will play in the American Hockey League (AHL) for the Sharks’ farm club, the San Jose Barracuda.
Knyzhov has played 10 matches this season and provided one assist. In total, he has 12 points (3+9) in 81 games in the regular NHL championships.
The Russian played in the SKA system before moving to North America. The hockey player has been playing in the Sharks system since 2019 and made his NHL debut in 2020.
