Hockey player Galkin: “Peters’ work at Avtomobilist left a crumpled impression”

Goalkeeper of Yekaterinburg Avtomobilist Vladimir Galkin admitted he had a bad feeling working with the Canadian coach Bill Peters .

Peters led the Yekaterinburg team from 2020 to 2021. The specialist worked in the NHL with the Carolina Hurricanes and the Calgary Flames, and also led the Canadian national team.

— What was your impression of working with Peters?

— Personally, mine is wrinkled. Head coaches don’t have much contact with goalies. I can say that Peters worked very hard, he arrived at the arena at 6am and was the last to leave. I think the result that Avtomobilist showed under him was not deserved. The man worked in the NHL, won the world championship and has a lot of experience. When he joined the team, his ambitions were high: they aimed at at least medals.

— Were you able to understand how the North American mentality differs?

— There was a different mentality, it was strongly felt. It was difficult for me to let go of certain situations, but he dealt with it very simply: he just threw it like a piece of paper in the trash. Today he smiles, but tomorrow his opinion could change. A Russian said something and will stick to those words, he bears responsibility for it. And in North America, as I understand it, it is normal that your words do not matter later, ”Galkin quotes RB Sport.
