The NHL has no intention of interfering in the problems of Russian hockey players who have done their military service

NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman said the league intends to remain neutral in the situation with Russian hockey players on issues related to their military service.

— Probably, we don’t have complete information about each player’s relationship in Russia with the government. We will have to respect this process. I think the NHL or the clubs should not interfere in this process in Russia. I think players should think about their every move,” Bettman is quoted by journalist Michael Russo on social media.

Earlier, Russian national team goalkeeper Ivan Fedotov was arrested in St. Petersburg on suspicion of escaping military service, the hockey player was taken to Severodvinsk. In April, the Telegram Baza channel reported that a former traffic police officer, Farit Samigullin, who made military tickets for some athletes, had been detained in Ufa. According to preliminary data, several footballers and hockey players from the structures of Ufa and Salavat Yulaev could be among his clients.
