Goalkeeper of Yekaterinburg Avtomobilist Vladimir Galkin spoke about the integrity of matches with Chelyabinsk “Tractor” .
The 23-year-old goalkeeper, a hockey graduate from Chelyabinsk, has been playing for Avtomobilist since 2019.
— This season for Traktor matches and “Motorist” attracted more attention. What do the players themselves think of the new image of the “Ural Derby”?
– It is a normal approach to promote these matches in order to attract supporters. We and the Traktor guys view this positively and with great interest. This adds a sense of principle to the confrontation. It’s cool that they did that.
“Although many people think that the matches between Traktor and Avtomobilist lack emotion, and the fans generally have a good relationship.
— There is no anger like some other teams. For example, like CSKA and Spartak, this is a legendary confrontation. But if we meet in the playoffs, there will be other emotions – already anger.
— Are these matches important to you personally?
— On an adult level, I can’t say that for me it’s a confrontation of super principles. I generally went to school and youth as if I was going to war. I wanted to prove that I was worthy of having a place in the team and that Traktor had made a mistake by not giving me playing time. But I’m not complaining, how it happened is happened like that. As they say: whatever is done is for the best. Now I look forward to matches against Traktor as if they were regular matches.
—Didn’t you give Traktor a chance at school?
– I played in the second team – “Polar Bears”, where I always had playing time. But we were knocked out of the strongest group and the team was disbanded. He only played three or four matches at Traktor and was the third goalkeeper. It so happened that a year before graduating from the MHL, I had to go to Yekaterinburg to play and develop, ”Galkin quotes RB Sport.
