For the first time this season, the 38-year-old Russian has failed to score in seven consecutive matches. His previous goal came on November 19, when Washington beat the Columbus Blue Jackets at home (4:3). In total, Ovi played 22 games this season and scored 14 (5+9) points using the goal+pass system.
During his career in North America, the Russian scored 827 times, making him the second sniper in NHL history. In front of him is only the legendary Canadian Wayne Gretzky (894). Ovechkin’s contract with Washington is valid until the end of the 2025/2026 season.
Note that Washington will play its next game on the night of December 8, when it will host the Dallas Stars.
