Attackers offering military ticketing services take advantage of the gullibility of hockey players, says hockey agent Shumi Babaev.
In April, the Telegram Baza channel reported that a former traffic police officer, Farit Samigullin, who made military tickets for some athletes, had been detained in Ufa. According to preliminary data, several footballers and hockey players from the structures of Ufa and Salavat Yulaev could be among his clients.
“I’ve never done such things for my guys. But clearly the problem here is much deeper. I know how it goes. These people understand that hockey players don’t understand that: guys come to the draft committee and think everything is official. I don’t think the players have gone to a conscious fake. There is a place for fraud from the people who are organizing all this,” Babaev told RB Sport.
– That is, hockey players are not guilty of this?
– There is guilt when you know that you are circumventing the law. But if everything is presented as official… It’s just that someone was taking advantage of gullible guys by telling them fairy tales.
According to him, it is necessary to pass a law assimilating the professional career of a player to military service.
– Any good athlete is physically better prepared than conscripts and subcontractors. The truth is that not every hockey player can enter the military due to the high number of injuries. Virtually no one is completely healthy. The guys, at their peril, continue to play hockey. At the level of the State Duma, there should be changes in the law that would equate a professional career with military service,” he said.
Earlier, Russian national team goalkeeper Ivan Fedotov was arrested in St. Petersburg on suspicion of escaping military service, the hockey player was taken to Severodvinsk. According to , he is due to take the military oath on August 6.
