Athletistic/Hockey. Tampa Bay Lightning head coach John Cooper assessed the current form of forward Nikita Kucherov. Last night, in the NHL regular season game against the Pittsburgh Penguins (3:1), the 30-year-old Russian scored two (1+1) points for his performance.

“There are a lot of great hockey players in the NHL. I mean, the best in the world. But I think right now, after a little over 20 games this season, you all have to put Kucherov at the top of this mountain. Nikita plays at an elite level. That’s all I can say about him,” Cooper was quoted as saying by the Tampa press service.

In 26 matches this season, Nikita Kucherov has scored 44 (17+27) points using the goal+pass system. These numbers are the best among all wingers who have played or are playing in the NHL in the 21st century based on results from the first 26 games of the season. Note that at the moment, Kucherov is the top scorer of the season in the entire league.
