The head coach “Neftekhimika” Oleg Leontiev said that the hockey players of the Nizhnekamsk club know that with him at the head of the team everything will be stable and clear.
At the end of November, Neftekhimik extended the contract with the head coach until April 30, 2027.
— Oleg Yurievich, you recently re-signed the contract. Why exactly for a period of three years?
— With a long-term contract, you are already trying to build a roster and long-term relationships with the people joining the team. Hockey players already know that everything will be stable and clear. And we can make the same long-term contracts when we know that people are coming in the off-season, and then maybe something will work out.
We are not the richest club, so we try to accurately select people and maintain stability. In principle, we don’t complain, everything is within our reasonable limits. Everything is fine, everything is there to work, to build a solid team capable of solving its task.
— So three years is a guarantee from management and no pressure?
— A three-year contract is the trust of management. Of course, goals and objectives were set,” Leontiev told Metaratings.ru.
After 40 KHL regular season matches, Nizhnekamsk is in tenth place in the Eastern Conference standings with 36 points.
