Marketing and Commercial Director of the Moscow Hockey Club “Dynamo” Valentin Kryuchkov told that the cost of season tickets for the team’s games is comparable to that of other KHL clubs, and also answered the question as to why the season ticket program does not apply in playoff games.
On Thursday, the White-Blues released season ticket prices for the upcoming season. A closed sale will take place between 7 and 21 July, where tickets will be available to 2019/20 season ticket holders or fans who have attended at least half of the matches in one of the last two seasons. The cheapest subscription in a closed sale is 8,999 rubles, the most expensive is 54,999 rubles, the cost of subscriptions for other fans ranges from 9,999 to 59,999 rubles. Subscriptions go on sale July 21.
— You launched a subscription program today. What do you offer fans?
— It was important to us that the range of subscription categories offered for sale be as wide as possible, because some fans prefer the most comfortable conditions to attend matches, the stands area, and someone first place really focuses on price. The minimum subscription price for the upcoming season is less than nine thousand rubles. Despite the fact that we are sure that our arena is currently one of the best in Russia. Before the start of the subscription program, we walked through all the stands, once again convinced that our palace has an excellent view from any level and from any sector, well, let me remind you that our arena is fully equipped with seats, it seems to be a small detail, but it is certain that attending a match is more comfortable for a season ticket holder of any category.
– Even before the official announcement, some fans were worried about subscriptions, arguing that, for example, the prices are much higher than those of HC Spartak, which also launched subscriptions recently. How would you comment on that?
— Let me remind you that we haven’t sold subscriptions for a few seasons. And if we focus on the price of an individual ticket in the 2021/22 season, the calculation of the cost of a season ticket would fall into the same amounts as in the upcoming season. If we do the reverse, take the cost of the subscription, take into account that this year the number of games increases by 10% in the regular season, then the price of attending a game within the framework of the subscription became even lower if we implemented the subscription program last season, from last year’s ticket prices.
– So, after all, a subscription to Dynamo costs more or less than to Spartak?
– We have studied the prices of the different subscription categories offered by other clubs, including Spartak. If we take an average, the prices of all clubs are approximately equal. In some categories, our figures are higher, while in some categories, on the contrary, we offer lower prices than our colleagues.
— What is the logic of the closed sale that you propose within the framework of the subscription program?
– We believe that fans who attend as many matches as possible, thus supporting the team, deserve certain preferences. For the most active fans we have a discount, to be eligible the person must be a season ticket holder for the 2019/20 season (the last season season tickets were sold), or have attended at least the half of the team’s home games in either of the last two seasons. We have a database, it is not difficult to collect this information. There were some disputes within our team on what percentage of matches followed gives right to a discount, we decided to stop at half the matches, since the seasons were covid, one of the supporters could miss matches due to illness, and there is always a working situation, business trips, something else does not allow a person to come to all the matches of the season, but most of the matches he is in the stands. Well, one more moment caused an internal discussion – we wanted to kind of encourage subscription buyers, we thought about gifts, but then we decided that everyone should choose the gift they like. The owner of each subscription will receive with him a certificate in the amount of 10% of the subscription price (calculated at the base cost, excluding discounts) and can buy souvenirs in our company store for this amount.
– Why does the subscription program only cover the regular season, and the playoffs are not included?
“Because it’s common worldwide practice. It is inconceivable that an NHL or NBA subscription includes playoff games. Playoffs are the brightest and most interesting part of the season, playoff games are in high demand compared to regular season games. In any case, season ticket holders will have an advantage over the rest of the fans, their place on the podium will remain for them, and the season ticket holder will receive a discount when buying tickets for the playoffs.
Last season, Dynamo lost 0-4 to CSKA Moscow in the second round of the KHL playoffs.
