Athletistic/Hockey. Former Russian youth team striker Nikita Filatov commented on Ilya Kovalchuk’s decision to resume his career.

“I think Ilya will succeed. He’s a crazy talent. Of course, he hasn’t played at the professional level for two years, but I know he works hard in the gym. I’ve been through three or four pre -seasons. I am sure that in terms of physique, his training will not be inferior to the average level of the KHL. Zhamnov knows Kovalchuk’s strengths very well.

I think he will be paired with younger guys who can guard from behind or cover the skating volume. Kovalchuk started at Spartak, and now he will finish there. People will want to watch Kovalchuk. We will see how things really evolve at the end of December. Ilya will bring his knowledge and experience to the team,” Filatov told RB Sport.
