Earlier, the 35-year-old Russian has already said that he would like to end his playing career with Pittsburgh, confessing his love for the city and the local fans. During the offseason, he became an unrestricted free agent.

Malkin was selected by Pittsburgh in the 2004 NHL Draft with the second overall pick. The striker has been defending the colors of the team since 2006, in the regular season he played a total of 981 games, scoring 1146 (444 + 702) points.

As part of the Penguins, Malkin became a three-time Stanley Cup winner (2009, 2016, 2017).
