Honored hockey coach of Russia Fedor Kanareikin appreciated the leadership of the Tampa Bay Lightning forward Nikita Koucherov in the NHL scoring race.
Kucherov scored twice and provided an assist on Saturday in the NHL regular season match against Seattle (4:3). The Russian was recognized as the first star of the match. Kucherov has scored 47 points this season (19 goals + 28 assists), he leads both in the sniper and scorer race.
— There is no point in making big predictions at the moment, the season has only just begun. In this segment, Nikita takes first place, and he has deservedly held this position for several years. Right now, he’s probably our greatest hockey player.
— What are Tampa’s chances of winning back the Stanley Cup this season?
— We understand that the key axis is Vasilevsky, Sergachev, Kucherov. If these guys succeed, they will certainly be vital to the team’s success. Kucherov leads the team brilliantly, he is a real scorer. Vasilevsky’s recovery from his injury is only a matter of time. Now he will restore his former state and, of course, he will be a very powerful Russian strike force in Tampa,” Kanareikin said, as quoted by Metaratings.ru.
Kucherov became the regular season top scorer in the 2018/19 season and was also awarded the Ted Lindsay Award and the Hart Trophy.
