The Russian striker has failed to score in his last 10 matches. This is the longest streak without scoring a goal of his career. Previously, he had gone 10 matches without a goal almost seven years ago, in February-March 2017.
Regarding Ovechkin’s drought, Washington coach Carbery does not rule out the possibility that aging affects a player’s performance, but he prefers not to delve into this aspect and focuses his attention on the player himself, trying to take every step necessary to keep Ovechkin on the field as productive as the Capitals need to be,” the statement read.
