Farewell match of the world hockey champion as part of the Russian national team Evgenia Ketova took place in St. Petersburg.
The meeting took place at the SKA arena, the teams “Leningrad” and “Peter” took part in the match. Leningrad won – 13:12, Ketov scored four goals.
Ketov, Alexander Medvedev, Roman Rotenberg, Nikolai Prokhorkin, Sergei Plotnikov, Anton Belov, Igor Ozhiganov, Sergei Shirokov played for the Leningrad team. “Peter” was represented by Vasily Koshechkin, Dmitry Kalinin, Grigory Panin, Anatoly Golyshev, Alexander Semin, Anton Burdasov.
Before the start of the match, the number 40 that Ketov wore was taken out of circulation and Ketov’s sweater was raised under the arches of the arena.
Ketov ended his professional career in April at the age of 37, then joined the SKA coaching staff. In total, Ketov played 786 matches in the KHL regular season and playoffs, in which he scored 263 points (137 goals + 126 assists). Ketov has been playing for SKA since 2013, he is the club’s record holder for the number of matches played and a two-time winner of the Gagarin Cup. As a member of the Russian national team, the hockey player won the gold medal at the 2012 World Championship.
