Athletistic / Hockey. Former Washington Capitals head coach Bruce Boudreau shared his opinion on Russian team captain Alexander Ovechkin’s chances of breaking legendary Wayne Gretzky’s NHL regular season scoring record. Boudreau admitted he still believes in Ovechkin.

This season, the Russian has only scored five goals in 25 matches. He repeated the anti-record for a goalless streak, which reached 10 matches.

“If he manages to score 25 goals this season, I think he will continue to progress. I always thought he would play until he broke the record, but if he only scores 12 goals this season, then knowing what this guy is proud of, I will doubt how he feels.

Medvedev opened up about Ovechkin’s NHL goalless streak

I still believe he can handle the situation. I love Wayne Gretzky, but I’d like to see this chase end. That would be cool. Ovechkin wants to be the best. I think he’s going to break the record,” Boudreau said as quoted by The Athletic.
