Metallurg takes first place in the Eastern Conference with 55 points. Yakovlev, 32, has 20 (3+17) points in 39 games. Last season, Magnitogorsk reached the second round of the playoffs, where they lost to Omsk Avangard (0-4).
— The main reason is that we are well prepared physically, there are a lot of young people in the team, they have great motivation. Well, experienced adults play at their level too. That’s why here is the result. I think it’s a plus for us that they don’t talk much about Magnitogorsk. We faced situations where we received the cup during pre-season training camp and after summer transfers, and nothing good came of it. It’s better to let them be silent about us, and we will play well calmly, ”said Yakovlev.
