The Moscow attacker “Spartacus” Pavel Poryadin said that he would be happy to play in the same team with Olympic hockey champion Ilya Kovalchuk.
Last week, 40-year-old Kovalchuk signed a contract with the “red and whites” until April 30, 2024.
“I can’t say I was surprised, because there have been discussions about this for a long time. But I didn’t know about the situation, and when they showed a video of him and Zhamnov in Cuba, I was very happy. It will be good to play in the same team with such a master. Despite the fact that Ilya is 40 years old, I think he will give us a lot of useful advice both on the field and in the locker room. We haven’t had a chance to communicate in person yet, we just said hello. Very soon he will start training with the team – we will see each other there,” Poryadin quotes RT.
Kovalchuk played in Russia for Ak Bars Kazan, Khimik near Moscow, SKA Saint Petersburg and Avangard Omsk.
