Pavel Platonov, coach of the Krylia Sovetov hockey team, consisting of players born in 2016, commented on the fight with his colleague Nikita Illarionov of the Red Machine during a match at a children’s tournament, noting that he couldn’t control his emotions.
Earlier, a video of a fight between coaches at children’s competitions appeared online. As learned, Platonov attacked Illarionov during the match and beat him while he was lying on the ice. The incident occurred during a team match as part of the Hockey Chance tournament, which took place at the Arktika Arena in Moscow. Later, the director of the Krylya Sovetov hockey club, Alena Krylova, told that the club would end its working relationship with the coach who beat her colleague at a children’s tournament.
“I was wrong, I couldn’t control my emotions and succumbed to the verbal provocation.” This happened for the first time in 10 years of my work with children. I want to apologize to my boys and my parents. It’s a shame that I can’t continue working with them. I would also like to apologize to the sporting community for damaging the reputation of my home club and the children’s coaching profession as a whole. Platonov’s words are quoted by the team’s press service .
