Athletistic / Hockey New York Islanders general manager Lou Lamorello has explained why the club traded defenseman Alexander Romanov from Montreal.

“We had the opportunity to have a 22-year-old defender in the top four. He has a fantastic character and the greatest competitiveness. We’ve played against him enough to know and feel what we’re talking about. He’s progressing, he’s has a lot of room for growth. He has all the potential to become even better”, – quotes the words of Lamorello “The Athletic”.

Last season, Alexander Romanov played 79 regular season games for Montreal, in which he scored 13 (3+10) points.

In the 2020-2021 season, Romanov, with the Canadiens, reached the Stanley Cup final, in which Montreal lost in the Tampa series (1-4).
